You’ll be able to choose from a range of different annual limits, deductibles, and reimbursement percentages. You'll also have the freedom to choose any licensed veterinarian, specialist, or emergency clinic. And there’s no waiting period for Preventive Care coverage if you’ve added it to your plan.
As long as your cat or dog is at least eight weeks old, your pet is eligible to be enrolled in the Hartville Pet Insurance Program, whether or not you are a Safeco policyholder. The policies under the Program cover a wide variety of medical expenses, including:
- Accidents/injury
- Illness
- Hospitalization
- Emergency pet visits
- Surgery
- Dental illnesses
- Alternative therapies
The optional preventive care add-on covers benefits including:
- Vaccinations
- Annual physicals
- Flea prevention

- Reimbursement options of 70%, 80% or 90%
- Annual limit options ranging from $2,500 to unlimited
- Choice of a $100, $250, or $500 annual deductible
- Simple online claim submission, claim tracking, and account management
- Direct deposit available for reimbursements
- All dogs and cats 8 weeks old and up are eligible for coverage
- Even older pets can be covered
- Accident and optional preventive care coverage start immediately on the plan’s effective date
- Illnesses and knee/ligament injuries have a 14 day waiting period
- Policies are reissued automatically every year on the plan’s effective date
- A discount of up to 10% may be available for insuring home, auto, boat and/or umbrella.*
