Make sure your vehicle is ready for the winter with these tips!

Winter can be a scary time to drive. There’s low temperatures, snow and ice, and holiday traffic, all of which make winter a bit more dangerous for driving. Santa Claus figured out how to safely drive in the snow, and you can too with these helpful tips to make sure your vehicle is winterized, without the need for a glowing red nose.

Make sure all of your fluids are fresh, and a recent service wouldn’t hurt
While you’re getting your vehicle serviced, have them check your antifreeze
As part of the service, have them check all of your belts, hoses, and sparkplugs
Get your battery tested, cold temperatures can really push a battery's limits
Make sure you replace those old wiper blades
- And grab an ice-scraper to remove ice from your windshield, those new blades will thank you
Temperatures can cause your tire pressure to vary, so check your manual to see what’s best for your car and check/fill your tires accordingly
If you haven’t yet, grab a set of snow tires
- In my experience, they make quite a difference if the roads haven’t been cleared
If you have 4-wheel drive, now is a great time to verify it works
- It may sound odd, but we recommend it because it's failed before
Gas can be expensive, but maintaining a full tank is important, doing so will help:
- Keep gas lines from freezing and causing other problems overnight
- Keep your car running while you wait for roadside assistance
Have an emergency kit in the car
- Blankets, flashlights, warning triangles, water, snacks, and a first-aid kit can certainly come in handy if you ever need it
