FAQ

Health insurance, answered

When can I enroll in health insurance?

For individual plans, you typically enroll during the annual Open Enrollment Period, or during a Special Enrollment Period if you have a qualifying life event like losing other coverage, marriage, a new baby, or a move. Employer/group coverage has its own windows. See HealthCare.gov for current dates.

What’s the difference between a premium, deductible, and out-of-pocket max?

Your premium is what you pay each month to have the plan; your deductible is what you pay before the plan starts sharing costs; and your out-of-pocket maximum caps what you’ll pay in a year. We help you weigh all three together — not just the premium.

Will my doctor and prescriptions be covered?

That depends on the plan’s network and drug list. Before you choose a plan, we check whether your doctors and prescriptions are covered so there are no surprises later.

Can you help with both individual and small-business health plans?

Yes. We help individuals and families as well as small businesses with group coverage, plus Medicare and long-term care — one local agent for the whole picture.

I’m turning 65 — do I switch to Medicare?

As you approach 65, Medicare usually becomes the focus. We can help you time the transition and compare Medicare Supplement, Advantage, and Part D options so your coverage and doctors carry through.
